The Race for the White House review

By nbmatt posted 28th September 2012

This game isn't really worth the money or any hype that may have been built up about it. It definitely didn't live up to my expectations. In this game, you run the path of being a U.S.A presidential candidate where you need to run around making speeches with promises that will either increase voter intention or decrease. There aren't custom promise options, they're all pre configured, and many options aren't really included.

Additionally, the gameplay is always the same in every game. No new scenarios or randomness about it, so playing over and over can become quite repetitive and boring. Unless you have the cash laying around to just throw away just because you can, don't buy this game. It is a waste of 30 minutes of my life that I will never get back. This game would receive -5 stars from me if that was an option, but I will leave it at 1 for the effort. There could have been so much more done with a game like this.

This one is a lot of fun. Particularly creating your own and candidate and running against the major parties is very challenging. If you have an interest in politics, this game will keep you engaged for hours.

As an election simulation I can sum it up in one word: Sublime. Few sims delve into the intricacies as much as this game in electoral terms and makes politics fun and more 'RPGish' (not a word but appealing to many). But only get the game if you know your electioneering and politics. Hope they adapt the game to UK politics as well.

Overall if you like politics and elections, this game is for you!
