Alien Soldier - a game that does it right
Alien Soldier gets what a side-scrolling shooter should really be about - The boss battles, diverse weaponry and music great music.Truly one of the best of it's kind. Pity they don't make them like this anymore...
Challenging. Fun. Alien.
You know what's the most fun about many sidescrolling shooters? The boss battles.
Alien Soldier knows this. It lets you fight against a few lesser foes, mostly to recharge your energy, before sending you against another challenging foe.
Each of these bosses is completely different and requires a different strategy to be fought effectively. Further complexity is added via six different weapons, which have limited, though rechargable ammo.
The soundtrack never lets up and keeps pushing you ever further, while the visuals are highly advanced for its time and are quite good even today.
Go on, enjoy this blast from the past.
Alien Soldier review
Alien Soldier is a side scrolling shooter from Treasure games, the developers of such classic shooters like Gunstar Heroes, Ikaruga, Radiant Silvergun.
Alien Soldier is basically a shooter with boss battles after boss battles, levels are quite short and easy affair, and only serve as an intermission between the many boss battles you will encounter (over 30 bosses I believe)
The controls are tight, the sprites are large and nicely animated and the game is challenging.
If you like Gunstar Heroes, you'll probably like this game too. It's a great side scrolling shooter that still holds up to this day.
