Bus Simulator 2012

Rating: 3.9 (34 votes cast)

Get on the bus and let it take you to a virtual, realistic world.

The newest masterpiece by astragon’s established developer TML, the “Bus Simulator 2012” will enthuse you. Never has a bus-simulation been that realistic and elaborate. Step into the shoes of a bus driver and take over the wheel of a highly detailed and feely accessible bus-model.

Here, you will find an abundance of possibilities to finish your missions or play in an open mode: Every technical detail of your bus has been reproduced true-to-live. Switch on the air-conditioning when your front-shields are steaming up and keep an eye on the speedograph, to stay in schedule – even though you have a lot of missions, you still need to rest to stay fit. Thanks to the digital readouts in the bus, you can monitor the engine`s temperature and the charging level of the cooling liquid as well as the oil and gasoline level.

Organize your route and target more than 450 bus stops. Let the realistic AI of both, pedestrians and other vehicles, amaze you and interfere with your behavior: Depending on the passenger, you have to decide whether you have to sell a day- or senior-ticket. And do not forget to always have a smile for your passengers to avoid a grumpy reaction.

Thanks to TML´s ability to represent every detail and create realistic missions, you will find a truly challenging bus-simulation in this game. Discover the freely accessible 3D-world with a variety of interesting details that you can explore. Just like in the real world you have to stick to your schedule and the traffic rules – or individualize your vehicles to share them with the community.

  • Detailed bus-models with realistically conversed technology and physics provide you with a high grade of true-to-live feeling.
  • Freely organisable routes
  • Reward system
  • Huge, freely accessible 3D-world
  • A variety of divergent pedestrians and vehicles, that follow a realistic AI
  • Realistic demonstration of a bus driver`s life
  • Extra missions give you that extra variation

Very buggy

By but-2-ene posted 4th February

An okay game if you like buses, and drives quite nicely. But the graphics are not marvellous (there is no anti-aliasing available for the game, as the developer admits that they haven't made it possible for the game) the game is quite buggy. For example,

(1) the game sometimes starts (or resumes) with nothing but a black screen and the mini-map when you enter the game world;

(2) passengers get stuck frequently at the doors so no one can get on or off the bus except by resetting the whole thing;

(3) the outside temperature sometimes rises out of control to over 60 degrees;

(4) the tachograph could stop working altogether if you happen to press the wrong button, and shows only a blank display with your driver card stuck inside that cannot be pulled out;

(5) and worst of all, the game frequently crashes to the desktop.

The developer blames crashes on graphics settings being too high for a slow computer, but I get the crashes even on my quite new and fast computer on even the default settings or low graphics settings. The manual also does not explain fully what quite a few features actually do, and while an English manual is available, there is very little other support available in English (most things are in German). Considering that Euro Truck Simulator 2, a very well-polished and extremely stable game with much more beautiful graphics, is being sold for 30 to 40 dollars, then considering its quality, I think this game should only be worth 5 dollars or so, not 20.

Bus Simulator 2012 review

A good simulator to start with, but maybe not for the hardcore. It looks lovely, and holds your hand until you are confident enough to go it alone. Well worth the asking price.

Great Bus sim

If you like bus or truck sims, this bus sim is fantastic! Great fun and a open mode feature is great. Recommended for any bus sim fans out there.
