Cold Zero - The Last Stand review

By Coaxl posted 18th February

For its price and age, Cold Zero is an excellent deal, especially at the discounted price of 2.48 EUR. It has some really innovative elements (or at least elements that were considered innovative back in the day). Using a combination of stealth and brute force, you have to work your way through levels, ranging from dockyards to abandoned mines. There is a huge variety of weapons available, which can be grouped into five categories but are far from just copies of each other. Ultimately, of course, there are flaws with the game - only certain weapons are worth using, the levels get a bit repetitive by the end - but it's still worth trying out.

this game is really old and it's techinique is out-dated long ago, but I like the gameplay that much that this isn't disturbing at all. A wide range of weapons and possibilities in a classic robe make this game complete.

This is a great find on any website at its price. It's a great game. Sure it has some bugs & glitchy parts, but what under-rated game doesn't? If you take the time to play it & admire it, you'll find it's a really great & exciting game.

Negative twelve stars. VERY frustrating game. Your point of view will constantly be blocked by trees, buildings and other things. Very unnatural "feel" to the controls. The controls are very non-intuitive and there is a literally deadly delay while you have to look at the command panel and switch from normal movement to "run" or "sneak". By then, it's too late, and you're full of bullets. If you enjoy saving the game literally every ten to twenty seconds, and having to reload a scenario a dozen times, this is the game for you. I wanted to go to the JoWood studios forum to ask gameplay questions, but they make it absurdly impossible to register.

Definitely a hidden gem here on gamersgate. A little old, but still very playable. A tactical fighting game with roleplaying and stealth elements. If you enjoyed playing games like fallout tactics and jagged alliance then this should satisfy. You control one character only and must use stealth to your advantage.
