Rating: 4.5 (214 votes cast)

Disciples II has been awarded countless honours for its unique gameplay and challenging scenarios including game of the year and many editor's choice awards. Disciples II Gold is a must for any Disciples fan and a great value for anyone who has never played Disciples before. All of the Disciples II campaigns and hundreds of hours of gameplay in one adventure-packed box.

Dark Prophecy
A decade has past since the first Great War of the original Disciples game. The final prophecy continues to unfold. Deep in the crevices of the Sacred Lands, the Chosen One has emerged, fated to bring salvation to some and destruction to others. Playing as one of four races, gamers must take up the sword and fight for the glory of their God.

Servants of the Dark
Servants allows gamers to play the two 'evil' races while the Disciples story continues to unfold. Play as either the Legions of the Damned spreading Brethrezen's plague across the land while sensing a greater threat in the Elven god, or the Undead Hordes seeking revenge against Gallean, one that will scar his people for eternity.

Guardians of the Light
Continuing the story that began in Dark Prophecy, Guardians allows gamers to play either the Empire trying to gain control of the now vacant throne while a cruel inquisition sweeps their lands, or the Mountain Clans trying to reunite their tribes after their near-destruction by the Chosen One.

Rise of the Elves
For the first time in Disciples' five year history, a new playable race has emerged. Continuing the storyline that began in the companion packs; Guardians and Servants, gamers can now play the Elven Alliance as they struggle to unite their race and reclaim their forests.

Disciples 2 Gold review

Disciples II is an old turn-based strategy game, best described as a gothic-styled version of Heroes of Might and Magic.

I also think this is best Disciplines game. If you like Heroes of Might and Magic you should try this classic game!

Disciples 2 Gold review

Disciples 2 is a nice package of all the previous addons, so for a reduced price, the purchase was a nobrainer for me. The game features fantastic art and gloomy setting, a world turn asunder by conflict and omnipresent creeping feeling of impending doom. Voice acting is superb.

The gameplay, however, is a strange and conflicting mix of a dungeon crawl and a strategy game, with the strategic part being just a slap-on. Since experience is slow to get and is most important for your primary stack, you will concentrate on winning as much battles as possible with this stack. Since combat is very luck-based with a single missed attack having the potential of ruining your strategy, you will reload the game a lot.

Overall, the game is a mixed bag.

An oldie but goodie

Having played Disciples when I was much younger, I decided to play Disciples II mainly out of nostalgia. After playing it for a while, it has reminded me that some of the best strategy games are old, obscure, and have graphics that are mediocre by modern standards. Disciples is one of the more original strategy games, and is definitely worth playing despite its age.

The greatest part of Disciples series. Dark, complicated and adult storyline, great gameplay, fast and pretty battle system and good army system. Shining gem of turn-based strategies.

A dark, brooding, unique artwork and graphics plus an engaging story of conflicts between different races plus a turn-based gameplay that rewards those who strategize equals a game that you will surely play for hours and hours on end.

I have really enjoyed this series. It is a turn based wargame that is hero based. This is my go to game when I cannot decide what to play. This is also great multi-player for some tabletop like fun.

Well, the fisrt time I played this game (around the time it first came out) it was only for the graphics, the dwarves portraits specically. A few days laters I finished the dawrves campaign and started the human campaign. Even today this game's capacity to draw me in in astonishing. I don't know, it just is very absorbing to play it, you are alwyas wanting to do something else, to build another upgrade on your castle, to take more territory, to kill someone. Just try iy, you'll see.

While improving on the first game, the gold edition comes with all the expansion, this game is worth its value for the time you will spent in it.

Brilliant art theme that goes with the dark fantasy setting. This game offers a unique experience in a rpg/turn base strategy/resource management genre that is rare to find in games. If you like fantasy theme games with a unique style of gameplay, this is a must get.

The first time I played this game I had thought oh it's just going to be another one of those Heroes games like heroes of might and magic. I was completely wrong this game has better setup where you can build buildings in your castle and what units you want. This game is a great turn based strategy probably one of the best if you like this type because of the setup.

The price is well worth it for all expansions plus regular Disciples 2. It has difficulty to it which will require you to think about situations and how you move yourself across the maps.

Disciples 2 Gold review

I bought this game because I remembered playing it in an Internet Cafe sometime in the year 2003 or maybe 2004. I couldn't afford it back then and forgot about this game.

Well, I saw it, here at GamersGate and bought it. I have to tell you that I am really happy. This game is awesome. First of all, it has 4 different difficutly settings. That means, everybody can play it!

I am playing on Average and it is really hard, since the AI is intelligent AND agressive. So if you are ready for a challenge and like fantasy + strategy I'd recommend this game.

The only negative thing is that it does not work so well under Vista. It has slow-downs, but I can live with that. At least it works ;)
