Dracula 3 - The Path of the Dragon review

By Severose posted 29th July 2012

The sequel to a great game that doesn't quite follow up as well as I wanted it to. I really recommend picking up Dracula 2 first and giving that a whirl. If after that you want more, come to this one. Basically the same thing, with a weaker story unfortunately. Despite that, it's still a great game that's worth visiting!

Dracula 3 - The Path of the Dragon review

This is the best game of Dracula´s series. After The First World War, The Vatican send a priest to a Village in Transilvania in an inquire about the cannonization of St. Martha. She is a young girl, dead in misterious circunstances, which the villagers atribute miraculous powers. This game has a very interesting history, much better than the previous games. The graphics are very beautiful. It is full of documents, dialogues and objects. As usual you go through many places investigating the facts: laboratories, libraries, ruins, an abondoned battlefield, a graveyard etc. A good game improvement is the objecives page, which prevents you to be totally lost when faced to many possibilities. As the game evolves, every people in the village appears to be involved in the plot. As you see yourself alone, the only solution is to take yorself the "path of the Dragon" and face the beast. Nice fun, if you survive!

This is your typical point and click game where you have limited free movement and the plot is pretty linear. While this isn't a bad thing, there are points where you are clicking through questions and answers in dialogue for long stretches of time.

Alot of the puzzles are also tedious; being little more than trial and error to find the right answer.

The plotline of the game is pretty good however. Set in the interwar years, you play a priest investigating the possibly canonization of a Romanian nurse. As you investigate though, you find something bigger going on underneath. Full of history and myth, I found that to be the most interesting part of the game.

The locations you visit are pretty limited though. You'll spend most of your time walking the same few streets in the village. It would have been nice to include more locations.

It's a fun game if for nothing else to advance the plot. It's not something I intend on playing again
