Reviews

“It is a meeting point between old game design and new, with every other moment punctuated with some of the most thrilling level and boss design to grace the genre. As improbable as it may sound, this game made by one guy not only stands up to the classics, it is every bit as good as Gunstar Heroes and Contra.”
9/10 – Destructoid

“If you’re a fan of the genre, then this one is a no-brainer, and a wholehearted recommendation.”
87/100 – IndieGameMag

“I have to tell you about Intrusion 2, because it’s like a game from my stupid dreams about games that couldn’t exist.”

Absolutely fantastic. Retro inspired 2D Side-Scrolling Shooter, but taking advantage of Modern tech such as Physics.

Mouse and Keyboard controls are nice and responsive, and the huge variety of weapons, enemies, vehicles and levels make this a game definitely worth a small chunk of your time and money. :)

It's a fun run-and-gun sidescroller, with cool features like riding wolves, entering a robotic suite, ...

The graphics are pretty pixelated, especially on a large screen when you play fullscreen.

A nice feature in the game when playing windowed (rather than fullscreen) is that when you accidentally click something outside the window, or upon switching to another program, the game automatically pauses.

The Physics engine is pretty good, the only downside of the impressive physics is that items can become pretty hard to reach if a monster you just killed falls on top of them (but so far never impossible).

To summarize I'd describe it as a classical run-and-gun sidescroller with an old-school feel, except for the physics which feel pretty fresh. Definitely worthwile for those who love the genre.

The graphics aren't that good, and I think the game plays a bit like one of those old games you'd play on those vending machine things(idk what they're called), but with a lot of improvements like physics and stuff. Good for retro gamers, but not my style.

Pretty decent run'n gun sidescroller with added (although a bit wonky at times) physics engine and platforming here and there.

It's an indie flash game so don't get your hopes high but I find this to be extremely enjoyable. What's not to like; you get to ride a giant wolf, get inside a power armour, skii and generally blast everything you see!

Only if it was a bit longer..

Really Great Find

Intrusion 2 is my favorite platform of all time. It has a state of the art physics engine, a variety of guns, and really great boss fights.

Each stage adds something new to the game (a different gun, vehicle, etc) which prevents the mechanics from becoming stale.

Overall, this game is well worth it, and was clearly made by a developer who understands what makes a great game.

A physics platformer with actual physics

By arvindrajayadav posted 18th September 2012

Intrusion 2 is an impressive technical achievement and really fun to play. The only drawback would be the small amount of times physics object make it tough to progress, but that rarely happens. It's a great shooter in the style of contra with some pretty cool elements. Definitely worth a try.

Holds its ground against metal slug

By Ghiro posted 13th September 2012

I played the flash game this one is based on a while ago, it's a fun wee game. This however is a fantastic platform shooter that can directly compete with the biggest titles in the genre.

This game focusses on 3 things:

-A fun physics engine, that some degree of replayability through the random events and wacky situations that it could create. while persistent through most of the game and occasionally making up for some very silly gameplay the physics engine never really gets in the way or completely "breaks". Making it a very fun addon to a solid game.

-Enemy variety, the unique enemies in this game truly deserve a mention, whoever made this game sure has a lot of imaginations sinc ei could never imagine making up a snowboarding cyborg with a rocket launcher. And that's only one of a dozen overall rather impressive baddies to shoot down.

-Legendary multi stage boss fights. I don't want to spoil any of them, but rest assured that they are quite something to behold. And don't worry even the boss levels have a fair checkpoint system that doesn't make things too frustrating.

While these are the most prominent features, let's not forget that underneath them is also a very lovingly made "metal slug"-style shooter experience, which is a bit rare to see on PC these day.

The only nags I can take at this game is that it's a bot on the short side (justified for the low price) and that the music while good does get a bit repetitive after a while.

Intrusion 2 is quite original : first a flash game (where i had a lot of fun), it has made is way to the top of the best-seller , thank to the recent indiefort 2. one could say it's just your generic gun-run games, but he would be all wrong ... because , if shooting people might help , phisycs has also been included , which change a lot : for exemple , a watchtower is right in front of you , and you have to take down the guards in it. well, simply shoot his fondation down, and the tower will be no more. and i'm not even talking about all the secret hided in the levels , along with driving/mounting . at last , there is even a small cover system (well you can hide behind a lot of thing, even the recently deceased body of your foes -strange isn't it?- )

so , overall, give it a shot (no pun intended), you'll have some good old fun :) !

A somewhat generic run-and-gun with physics elements.

By Aquillion posted 26th July 2012

Intrusion 2 is a typical run-and-gun sidescroller; you move (for the most part) rightwards, shooting anything that moves, picking up ammo, health, and guns that shoot a bit faster, and so on. There are a few somewhat interesting enemies, but the main thing it adds to the formula is a physics engine, which lets you push boulders or boxes and the like -- still, this doesn't change the overall gameplay much. The graphics and music are likewise bland.

If you like generic run-and-gun type games, you might enjoy it, but it doesn't really add much to the formula.

I'm torn on this game. On one hand, the physics are phenomenal for a 2D game. Some of the enemies are fantastic to fight and boss battles are just immensely fantastic.

But on the other hand, some parts of Intrusion 2 are just dull. The walking and shooting is boring. Until you -ride a giant wolf- and the game again becomes the best thing since sliced bread.

Buy it with caution. It's not as fun as a whole like Metal Slug, but there are moments when it's a brilliant platforming shooter. I think the game likes a little bit of polish, but it definitely offers some good fun.

Totally worth the buck. This game reminds me of the old days in front of the arcade machine mashing buttons during intense Metal Slug sessions. You have a wide array of fun weapons. The developers have implemented a truly fun and interesting physics engine that you don't usually see in 2d games. Sometimes watching the ragdolls explode away is just amusing.

Did you enjoy Metal Slug series? Then you will be pleased spending this amount of money for this game

cheers

Loads of mindless old school fun that had me laughing out loud at the absurdity of what was happening. Solid, tight game play, nice pacing and pretty graphics make this indie a gem. You won't be disappointed.

Intrusion 2 is like a Metal Slug meet physics (though don`t expect Metal Slug from this one). Everything in this game is top notch. The physics is fun and sometimes makes game "unpredictble". Music is good and get you in the right mood. Only thing that i dont like is that this game is short. Overall, i recomend this game to everyone who loves games like Contra and Metal Slug, it`s fun and simple.

The variety! The physics!

These two things come into great play in the game, whereas at first it looks like a simple sidescrolling shooter, you'll soon be riding giant wolves, finding powerful guns, and fighting some of the best bosses you have ever fought in an action game.

If you wanted a few hours of pure shooter fun, this would definitely be the game to get. While not perfect, it does do a lot of things just right.

Pew pew! Pretty straightforward game. Fun little action side scroller. Not amazing, but fun. The wolf controls were a bit wonky and hard to get used to, but that was a minority of the game. Overall, fun. Really all it needs to be.

Intrusion 2 Review - SWEET MOTHER OF GOD <3

By ninjaman999 posted 25th June 2012

This game is absolutely INSANE on so many levels. The physics and gunplay are all solid as hell, The guns all have different uses that make all of them essential (Like pistol to save ammo for the other guns etc.) and it was around 5 hours of solid ass kicking for a meager asking price of 10 bucks. A winner for sure.

i miss these goofy shooters! i particularly like the "bouncing" nature of this one. riding the wolfs was fun too and honestly i didnt see it coming at all. game could use a wee bit more variety in weapons but when is that NOT the case? it is a really good reason to pick up the IF bundle.

This is a run and gun that would be best played dual stick style that has a lot of physics and some puzzles (like moving boulders to increase my jump height at the start of the first stage.) It has a lot of levels too. Don't go in expecting metal slug, treat it more like a platformer with lots of shooting

I'm not sure what to think about this game. I like it though, that's for sure. I love the old style RPG graphics which fit in well and can run on a lot of machines. It has some puzzles and is mainly a survival/shooter game. It's my cup of tea and I would recommend it to all who enjoy these sorts of games!
