Beautiful game, construction simulation, war.

I liked it a lot, simulate construction is interesting, but takes a long time and there is no acceleration to play. I dislike war system, is fair. Despite the weakness of graphic, but fun to play.

Nice game indeed, enables the player to economically manage their cities and stuff and for fun also put some units to battle;) really nice concept of doing war and making buildings and get stuff from the land;)

quite addictive ^^

This has to be one of my favourite games, the gameplay totally makes up for the age of this game and it's outdated graphics. I love the amount of detail that went into the game, from the way you can watch your resources being collected to seeing them used to create and build.

**Possible spoiler**

For example watching the farmer plant the corn and then to harvest it, then for the corn to be sent to the mill to be made in to flour for bread or to the swine farm to feed the pigs which will be turned into sausages and their skins into leather used for armour.

A classic. Graphics and gameplay are outdated but the core of the game is still great. There are plenty of websites devoted to improving the gameplay that really make this game fun! Single player can easily kill a whole afternoon, but this game really shines in playing multiplayer because then you don't have to deal with the poor AI. Overall its a great medieval town sim with a good strategic battle system for its time. For $5 its definitely worth it.

Not a game that ages quite well.Being an old game like it is,this one has outdated graphic and various quirks when running on a modern system.Although it still can kill my whole afternoon,I'd not recommend it.If you are really into resource managing games you should check out more recent ones like the settlers or anno series.

Classic!

I played this game when I was a young teen and for YEARS I looked everywhere. Of course Gamersgate had it and yet again, I was rampaging through medieval times.

The gameplay in this game is great and the resource management is unique in that, every resource collected has to be carried to the storehouse and can not be used until it is carried back out and taken to the destination industry. Later games like Settlers 7 took on this tactic and it worked well to their advantage. My only complain is that games last a LOOOONG time so if you are in a hurry to beat this game, think again.

A golden oldie, a blast from the past, a joy to play.

It might not have aged quite as gracefully as this title deserved, but it's definitly worth a revisit to the Settlers from yesteryear.

Although I can get this game to start and run, the lag with the mouse and clicking makes the game completely unplayable. It takes anywhere from 7-10 clicks to select an object or interface button. I am not sure if this is being caused by Vista or simply being an older game. Unless your rig is older, be warned, as I have been forced to uninstall the game 10 minutes after installing.
