Unfortunately I was disappointed by this game. I was hoping to get a modern take on the 4X genre, and it surely has some nice ideas, but the execution felt sluggish, buggy and sometimes also ugly. By now, there are also many more 4X games available, so you may well skip Lost Empire Immortals.

I would really like to be able to play the game at all, however there does not seem to be much support for the game to be had and after 3 hours trying every solution i am forced to admit that this game bested me, it doest not work at all.

I can't open it for all the things in the world, but at least i reduced the list of faults preventing me from opening the game from three pages to a half. The rest is too hard to get away. All it complains about is really framework this and windows that but despite messing with it i can't find out what exactly is wrong.

So since i never got to try the game i will give it a 1 star for the concept, actually making me want to buy it. Would've gotten at least 2 stars if i could open it up.

Not as good as I think before I bought it. There are more interesting 4X games than Lost Empire (for example Sword of the Stars or Galactic Civilizations). I think, that this game have to get lot of upgrades.

The devs did a little better of a job with this one, but I still can't help but to feel like they missed a couple of vital notes in the game. There's a lot of content here, even more that in the first, but that doesn't always mean it's better. Some minor improvements were made since the last game, aside from a graphics overhaul, but it still doesn't fix the flaws that were prevalent in the first. I still recommend the game, but I want the dev to take a little more time with the sequel, if they make one.

another great game made by Paradox Interactive. intense and totally addictive are the most appropiate words to describe this game, lets talk about it, first of all, The story begins with the Eonians, a long lost civilization which has given the knowledge of navigating the stars to the other races (the Horde, the Alkiths, the Megalanians, the CrystalSpirits, the Tritons and the Humans). When the Eonians disappeared, so did their technology, but it was soon rediscovered, exploring and expanding becoming possible once again.

Lost Empire: Immortals is a 4x turn-based strategy game, featuring multiple star maps with up to 5000 star systems, 6 different races and an extensive research tree. The battles are rendered in 3D - although the player cannot control them - and the final objectives can be domination, diplomacy, research or exploration.

1st off this game is very fun! It will fill up countless of your hours! The immersion is very well made and the depth is so gripping at first!

Now 2nd, with that said it do have its let downs. The gameplay could be much better! Diplomacy is very limited, partially because of the AI. Customization is sometimes useless and overly complex. Also there are some Crashes and bugs, which are left unattended by developers and only half fixed by mods.

I gave 4/5 ratings because I loved it, but this game could be more!

I'm a sucker for turn-based space strategy games, so I had to give this one a shot. While this game has the potential to be really fun, there's just not enough here to keep me going. Colonizing worlds and building an empire is a painstaking process. So painstaking that you'll be clicking on that turn button a lot. A LOT. Many maps are so immense that I'm not sure you could complete them with a year of playing time. Add in the fact that a lot of the random instances and events are very unbalanced. I may have a small fleet only capable of fighting a small fledgling empire and then magically stumble upon an ancient fleet and beat up on anyone who hasn't had that same event happen to them. I wanted to like this game, but in the end I got much more enjoyment out of Space Empires.

This game was allright, however I could not find that it added much content to my gameplay, compared to the original Lost Empire. Therefore I can't really say it was worth it, though I did not play it that much. Master of Orion II is still the king of this arena.

By canshow posted 19th June 2011

Just like the overall rating on it is, is my rating as well.

While the game universe can become massive, i feel that gameplay is quite linear. Ship management could be better, along with a randomized tech tree instead of the same old one that you have to research. Unless you find it fun doing repetitive things for the first couple hundred turns of the game, then it's not very fun. Combat is rather instant, but you can always see a video of the battle with poor graphics.

While the idea is good, the outcome is not so much good. UI needs improvement and so does the replay value.

Lost Empires: Immortals is not what I would call a fun game, or even a decent game. I played it for a good long time trying to get the hang of it, figuring out little bits and peices before giving up.

As far as I can tell, story mode is cowtowing to both of the immortals until you can get an alliance with the good one or the evil one. The cowtowing can be anything from generating a fleet consisting of certain ships, giving away resources, or researching techs. While I liked the occaisonal reseach something your already researching, all too often I encountered the issue of having to research a tech that I didn't care one lick about, like laser beams as the humans, who specialize in missiles, or feel the wrath of the immortal for not immediately jumping through hoops.

In addition, the building of ships feels hamstrung, as if someone decided to use arbitrary building limits instead of true weight or size units. In addition, it was difficult to know if a given part was small enough to fit enough of it on the ship. There is also lack of a testing function, meaning the only way to know if your ships are better is fight a empire or a neutral race, and kill them.

Having just played a 4x game that had a much more diverse tech tree, the tech tree of Lost empires felt constrained with it's level unlock based tech. Sometimes you had to get certain weapons you cared about to high levels to get what you wanted.

The AI seemed decent, except that everyone I met, even if I had the power to crush them like a bug, or was so far away that they took thirty turns just to reach me, by which time I usually had larger ships then they could of fielded when they sent off their fleet, seemed to want to just declare war and extort money from me unless I was within their power level in every respect. I did not ever get invaded by soldiers, and like Space empires, the AI only seemed to want to obliterate planets one colony at a time. However, unlike space empires, the AI understands how to field a navy without it being destroyed by a fleet half it's size.

A very disappointing game i do not recommend to play. I truly love the 4X genre since i first played MOO and Reach for the Stars but Lost Empire just fails at it. Poor UI design, a lot of bugs, long learning curve, it is not enjoyable at all in the end.

Compared to others Paradox titles, this one is truly lacking love from devs.

Prefer Master of Orion 2 if you dont bother olders game, or try Sword of the Stars.

Lost Empire Immortals is a disappointing game by Paradox. For those which are used to games such as HO3 or Europa Universalis, this is NO WHERE near that level.

I really could not get into the game at all, i tried, but it simply never clicked for me. Anyone which is looking for a game in this genre i suggest Masters of Orion, allot more detailed and user friendly.

I don't know why this game is getting such great reviews, I didn't find any thing positive about it at all. The graphics were poor, the storyline was weak, the controls didn't respond well, plus I couldn't play it on my main computer because it has Windows 7 on it. I cannot give my seal of approval on this game to any degree!

In this new version you can play with six differents races, each race have his own skill and abilities to fight for the control of the galaxy. Is quite similar to other space strategic games. I recommend you this game if you like other space games titles.

ok, it is not perfect!

this is a turn base strategy game based in space. it hase a lot going for it so here are some points

ther is an intensive reserche system. ther is not thousands of techs but they can be reserched to levle 99999 i think.

good empire gameplay, but it gets hard to track after a while. you may have 10 fleets fighthings battles and it is hard to see what is going on where.

Battles are only videos, only use is to see how well your ships are doing.

Maps can be MASSIVE. up to 5000 solar systems. bigger then MOO3

Diplomacy is the worst part, war is declaird almost on contact, demands are somtimes way over your capacety. etc

so over all the game is good but it hase its issues of Diplomacy and late gameplay complications i invite you to try it out.

This is a great 4X game. The graphics are on par for a game of it's age, and the complexity will ensure that no two games turn out the same.

The only real big problem with the game is that it will not work at all under windows 7 with the latest patch.

This game is somewhere in between galactic civilization and master of Orion, cheaper and with less graphics than one and an update with some interesting twist of another. its a 4x game with some peculiar qualities that entertain once mastered but present a relatively high learning curve.

again the game is not as flashy as a galactic civ but is way cheaper, is not as macro focused as mmo 3 but it has better graphics.

i must mention that it has some technical problems and you might need to check out the game forum if your unlucky and it doesn't run properly on your computer.

Really an interesting strategy game. Absolutely epic in scope, a little buggy, but very ambitious. If you want to try something genuinely different (and are able to concentrate and learn well), the price is right for Lost Empire Immortals.

An interesting 4X games that has a staggering scope of up to 6000 planets for you to explore. As you can tell, this game can be staggeringly complex to manage and to win. I like the graphics in general, but two points - first, the spaceships fleet graphics on the galactic scale could have been better represented. And second, you can forget about planets... they are just tiny little things orbiting the stars. The alien races tend to expand very fast and can be quite demoralising while you figure out a strategy to defeat them. Overall, this game is pretty decent and will suck up a lot of my time to explore. Recommend you read the reviews of this game elsewhere objectively, it is really not that bad. If you are into 4X games, then I personally can say that it is slightly more fun than MOO3. Too bad this game can't run on my 1024x600 mini notebook, only on my home computer.

As a fan of deep, long strategy games I really wanted to like this game. I tried to like it. But because of a lack of decent learning tools (the tutorial is very basic, the manual doesn't answer a lot of questions, the in-game help is skeletal) and a lot of bugs I could not. There are some really intriguing ideas found in the game though, such as the great leader system which allows you to educate and assign great people born in your society to specific roles, and the idea of discovering your race's lost history which allows you to access new/old technologies and other benefits. At the price point, the game might be worth it to you if you're willing to put some effort into sucking the entertainment out.

THis game is highly recomendable to those gamers who are reallly into space games.

Not only has it got a colossal galactic map but i also allows us to build our own ships as we ssee fit. In fact you even get to chose how each type of ship gets equiped before you start mass producing it.

Its tech tree is also very big and it allows you to take different routes while your playing.

The big variety of minor races also means you get some action before the real fighting begins with the others players.

The only bad thing is that this game doesnt have multiplayer games.

A really good game, with a final patch or two this game can become pone of the best space games ever made.

This game has huge maps, a tech tree that does not run out even if it is limited is what areas can be researched, simple planet managment, takes less time to get into than games like Space Empires, the diplomacy is passable but not great. My biggest problem with it (other than bugs, which can be patched) is that if you get to many resources the counter loops around.

This is a fun game, provided you have all the patches. It is a budget title so it is unfair to compare it to the Galactic Civilizations II series. But. Lost Empire: Immortals is fun to play and for its price point does quite well. Make no mistake, this is an IMMENSE game and if you give it time, it WILL hook you! I like to play it when I am in the mood for a 4X session but do not want to get in as deep as GCII. If you or anyone you know is considering buying this game, please buy it here. When last I checked, the forums for this game were closed, and Pollux Game Labs are rumoured to be out of business. There MAY be another place to get the patches of course, but buying from Gamer's Gate assures you that you will have all the patches in one place.

This game compares favourably in my opinion to Space Empires V. It has been almost two years and that game is still being patched. If you can afford it and love space 4X games I would recommend the following: The Galactic Civilizations II series for insane customisability, Lost Empire: Immortals (available here), Space Empires IV for the sheer amount of mods including Star Trek and Babylon 5. Sword of the Stars and Born of the Blood (available here), and Sins of a Solar Empire.

Thanks Gamers Gate for Lost Empire: Immortals! 4 out of five stars!!

In the current state of this game I have no choice but to give it 2 stars. While the patch fixed most of the real gamebreaking crash bugs and some of the turn calculation slowdowns, the game is still in a very incomplete state. The AI could be described as laughable, there are many minor gameplay bugs, and the so called story reeks of rushed development and a hurried release. This is really, really sad. The game shows true potential and with some polish I would count it among the classics of the space 4x genre. In itīs current state however, I strongly discourage anyone to buy it. When/if the game gets fixed, itīs a strong buy recommendation instead.

Lost Empire Immortals is Lost Empire with a much improved UI, still alot of problems, and I was getting long turn delays on a high end pc later in game. The game could also use a larger tech tree and better diplomacy options, got tired of being spammed by send us mineral's or else by almost every race I met ever few turns.

Still the game is Much improved from Lost Empires is still more of an expansion then a new game though imo even if it is much more polished, and not worth the combined buying price of both even with the 33% discount.

By ollobrains posted 13th March 2008

Have been playing this game - a few bugs remain. A bigger tech tree would be good as would PBEM - overall im going to give it 8 out of 10.

Hopefully patch support will be ongoing as well as new updates etc.

Pollox have a good history of support ( ongoing support for their games) one thing that does bug me with some titles is the buggy nature followed by no follow up patches and even worse is late patches for download digitial games ie from gamers gate ( not this one but a few others i wont mention)

the graphics are great, turn based is good, map and ship combat is very well done , good job pollox could use some minor tweaks but i guess they will read the paradox forums and take all suggestions on board
