GAME SUMMARY

Sandbox of God: Remastered

Rating: 3.2 (61 votes cast)

Built on the 2004 release of the popular indie game the Sandbox of God, the Sandbox of God: Remastered is a puzzle at heart, where every decision you make affects your outcome in the end.

For instance: you can use each godly power only once. So say you use the rain function and then make a comet hit the earth. The ground, being mushy, allows the comet to get stuck in the ground and become a mountain. But if you use the comet function first, the comet will leave a big crater. Then by using a rain function, you can fill the hole with water, making a lake. It’s your world...shape it as you see fit up until the very end of time.

This brand new Remastered release includes such features as:

  • New Graphics Pack, “Simulated Boardgame:” You can play SOG in its classic style or switch to a brand new style called Simulated Boardgame. In this new style, SOG:R simulates how one might play a boardgame version of the Sandbox of God in their basement using light gels, clay figures, blocks and cards, and Christmas lights. Switch between the classic style and boardgame style freely between rounds, and get ready for a really unique experience!
  • New Game Mode: Warfare. In addition to the Sandbox Mode, there’s a brand new adventure called Warfare Mode. As man sits atop the world, enjoying the fruits of his labor, evil rabbits plot revenge. Defend man’s civilization as you purchase new defenses and upgrades, and prepare to do battle with the ever-multiplying civilization of rabbits. Use your godly powers of lighting and destruction to destroy rabbit armies and huts…provided that you have enough cash, of course. Unlock new cards by beating Sandbox mode and see how far into the future you can survive!

Along with those new features include an updated engine, updated music and sound, a play speed function, various enhancements and more! Enjoy this game at a low indie price today.

Boring, few options to choose from a very limited number of results, which means that usually nothing happens when you change the order of your actions.... boring interface and not much to look at at all ...

Argh...I hate to do this so much...

I absolutely love sandbox of god. It's excellent. The original webgame was one of the most complex and enjoyable of the time.

So my problem with this game? It is that webgame.

You get three different game modes, all just layers of gloss over what is almost identical to each other and to the original. It's still just as enjoyable as it was...but it's nothing truly "new" since the (free) original.

I couldn't make heads or tails of this game. Maybe it helps to have played the card game? There are very few decisions to make, but I just couldn't see what those decisions *meant*, in gameplay terms: sometimes I got points, sometimes I lost points -- why? The game does nothing to explain this to you, and in the end I didn't find it interesting enough to try to track down how it actually worked.

This is a very simple game, but still fun. Graphics are old school, but work well for the concept. Runs fine on Windows 7.

Try the different game types available, each has it's own advantages and challenges. I would love to see a remake of this for the modern computer, but we're still waiting as of yet.

Cute cardgame, converted to a very simple PC version. For the price you're paying, you do get a bit of fun in return.
