Torchlight II captures all the flavor and excitement of the original game - while expanding the world and adding the features players wanted most, including online and LAN co-op multiplayer. Torchlight II is fast, fun, and filled to the brim with action and loot. Adventure solo or online with your friends!

Key Features:

  • Multiplayer - Play co-op with your friends via LAN or over the Internet for free. No subscriptions, no item sales. Our new matchmaking service lets you find friends, start new games, and join existing games. And, as always, you can play single-player offline as well.
  • Customizable Characters - Players will create and customize a character from one of four brand new classes. Each class can be played as either male or female, with customized cosmetic features and looks to make each individual character stand out. All new skills and loot give loads of opportunity for unique character builds.
  • Moddability - TorchED, the Torchlight II editor, will give players the ability to create their own mods, adding even more content to the world. Have your friends download the same mod and play together. TorchED will be available as a separate download very shortly after launch.
  • New User Interface - Torchlight II boasts a new and improved user interface, designed to be easier than ever for new players to pick up and play. This intuitive interface ensures you can focus on playing the game the way you want to.
  • Open World - We're not only in the town of Torchlight anymore! Explore vast overland areas and multiple hub towns, fight through rain, snow, day and night. Our level randomization ensures new layouts, paths, loot, and monsters every time you play.
  • New Game Plus - In New Game Plus, the game's not over until you say it is. Once you've beaten Torchlight II's primary campaign, you can start again with the same character for a significantly greater challenge. You'll keep all of the skills, gold, and gear you worked so hard for!
  • Pets & Fishing - These popular features make their return in Torchlight II in improved form. More choices, better effects, and your pet will still make the run to town to sell your loot so you don’t have to.

I've always loved Diablo II but couldn't stand the thought of Diablo III due to its online crap. Bought Torchlight 2 on sale and have loved every minute of it. Reminds me a lot of the classic diablo games. Not a huge fan of multiplayer games in general so can't really comment on the online aspect of the game. Recommend to any diablo fan.

Good RPG

By predator481 posted 9th May

I've played a few RPG's similar to this, but this is my favorite one. The part where I believe this excels in is the pet system. Pets can do stuff you can't in others. They can go sell items you give them while you're in a dungeon, and even buy potions, all without you having to leave the dungeon at all.

If you love the old Diablos, you'll love this game. It may not have the backing of Bnet, but it doesn't matter; still tons of fun to be had with this hack-and-slash. Gotta say, I love that I was able to pick this up at such a cheap price. I was actually fully planning on paying full price, so thanks GG for this awesome deal!

Great! I much prefer this to Diablo 3, despite having played and enjoyed that game single-player and in a co-op party. You are regularly rewarded with good items, and the really great ones will be your favourite for many levels. Sockets do their usual thing: the option of destroying the item or the `gem' is welcome. Pets are also back from Torchlight; don't forget to use them to buy identify scrolls and the like! I preferred the combat (I mostly played as a mage) to Diablo 3, even before I realised Skills (as well as items) could go in the action bar, which raised it to a whole new level. The action bar makes gameplay more like an older aRPG or similar to an MMO: I found Diablo 3's combination restrictions irritating. The ability to generalise or specialise as much as you like is great, and you can play on- or off-line as you choose, AFAICT. A nice variety of monsters, no stupid Auction House for pay to play: swapping items with your friends is still a good idea occasionally though. The many tweaks to other games with similar gameplay by veteran RPG creators really show and make this game shine in the genre. Read more of the features elsewhere, I could go on for a while... ;) Things I initially didn't like: the cartoony style. Things I liked: everything else.

A fantastic follow-up

Torchlight 2 blows the first Torchlight game out of the water. This isn't one of those "change a couple of things around, add a couple of minor features, boom, sequel done" sort of things. They've added multiplayer, the game actually has a huge world now instead of just a really deep dungeon with one town.

This is everything Diablo 3 should have been. One of the best hack and slash games out there.

Torchlight II is really awesome game, I playd it till the end whenever I had 5 mins spare.

It has a good replayability in it, you can play with your friends whenever you want and lately Steam Workshop was added, so new mods can be enabled changing the gameplay as you like.

If you're a fan of action RPGs GET THIS GAME!

It has all the awesomeness of Torchlight 1 plus multiplayer.

Interesting classes, fun toony artstyle, addictive gameplay.

This is what Diablo 3 should've been.

Torchlight II - Get it now!

If you haven't played Torchlight II yet...WHY NOT?!

The graphics aren't drop-dead gorgeous but it's forgivable given the highly polished gameplay. Overall, this game is a very satisfying loot-fest and the easy-to-use, drop-in/drop-out multiplayer is a wonderful addition to that experience. Best of all, this game has mods which adds to the replay value. The Torchlight mod community hasn't reached the level of, say, The Elder Scrolls community but there are still plenty of good mods out there.

In the inevitable comparison to Diablo 3, I'd say that Torchlight emerges the better game.

Hi

I make it short, if you like Diablo III then you will love Torchlight II. It's like Diablo II, just with better graphics and some enhancements. A great game that brings you many hours of item-collecting fun. :-)

Buy it!!!

A fine game, I guess. I could have enjoyed it more, if I didn't get so bored of rpg's, thanks to WoW and Diablo. But still, good game. I give it 4, for being a good game overall. I hope I can play it again when I forget my experience with RPG's... Than maybe I can give 5 that day.

If, like me, you were disappointed by the direction taken by Diablo 3 (particularly being unable to assign stat points, and the new rune-skill system), I'd highly recommend Torchlight 2.

Torchlight certainly has a lighter tone than Diablo, both in terms of visuals and story, but don't let that fool you. It's a great game, which retains all the complexity of character development we A-RPG fans are so fond of. There are 4 characters (I've only tried the engineer so far) with full skill trees, and everything you would expect from an A-RPG: lots of enemies, loot, quests, diverse terrains.

Everything is done well, and in some regards it improves on the older Diablo formula. The addition of a pet to fight alongside you is nice, and it will even sell your loot in town and bring back potions. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of passive skills (I think there were 9 for the engineer), and wished there were a few more.

If you like this style of game, it's definitely worth full price, but you could also keep an eye out for a price drop, as it's sold at half price semi-regularly.

I would only say this games is way better than Diablo 3. Longer, and has more of a classic feel than diablo, plus doesnt requiere you to be connected all the time to play.

Diablo is still going trough patches and the game has really become boring since is too repetitive, plus this games cost 3 times less than diablo.

So Torchlight II for 20$ offers you much more than diablo. Enough said.

Torchlight II review

Torchlight II improves on virtually every facet of the first game, with more varied skill trees, a sizable overworld environment (in addition to interesting dungeons), fun combat skills, improved gear and fantastic stylized graphics. If you enjoyed the first game, or are a fan of Diablo II or Action RPGs in general, you'll get a lot of entertainment out of this game. If there's one disappointing aspect of this game, it would have to be that the combat/skill synergy isn't quite as interesting as Diablo 3, but it's a solid, traditional action RPG.

an amazing game for those gamers who just like to hack away at swarms of mobs and bosses. I also think that if you like the elements of an RPG e.g. skill trees and character customisation you will feel that this game is a must buy

I absolutely love this action RPG. It improves on Torchlight I in every way. More classes, more skills, more pets, and a bigger world with more quests.

The story line is just enough to keep the game moving forward. The environments, ranging from swamps to deserts to snowy mountain passes are very well done. Like the original Torchlight, there are several difficulty levels available. In addition, they have included a hardcore mode with permadeath for the character, which rally ramps up the challenge.

There is also multiplayer available so you can smash hordes of monsters with your friends.

This game is a must buy for action RPG fans. It's worth the full price, but is also frequently on sale for 50% off.

One step ahead

By ismaelpernas posted 26th January

I've been a massive fan of Diablo series for years but I have to say that Torchlight II just blew my mind with the amount of fun it provides for such a low price. Great graphic design, gameplay very well balanced, lots of looting, useful looting, pet system is genius and good set of habilities/spells. I think you can't ask for more with this price.

In my opinion, is clearly one step ahead of Diablo 3 as a game, and several in terms of price!

So far I love this game. The replayability for this game seems very high, seeing as there is 5 different characters and if you beat the main campaign with a character, you can start it again on a higher difficulty for a tougher challenge. I love the loot and monsters in this game. I sometimes have trouble picking up all the loot as my inventory is almost always full. Definitely worth a pick up. $19.99 for this game is a steal. I would have paid upwards of $49.99 for this game. GET IT!

Cool game

I can't say that this game is better than Diablo III, but still cool, and a cheap alternative of it. I bought this game because my friend bought it and he convinced me that it warth avery single cent. This is one of the best games played on co-op mode.

Torchlight II review

By moyen posted 10th January

Torchlight II is a very nicely paced action flick. The gameplay is entertaining, moderatly demanding and quite relaxing. There is not much not to like in the game, the classes offers varied play and normal setting offers a challange without boring with repeated deaths. I missed the possibility to redistribute the skill points, I would have liked to change my character skill design without starting over from scratch. That is about the only thing I found annoying. Everything else, such as graphic style, level design and item rewards worked well. Recommended.

By schmuttah posted 6th January

Better than D3 imo, but still pretty short. 4 acts with some extra random maps that you can buy afterwards. It is funnier to level up than in D3 though, you principally got the 3 skill trees as you had in Torchlight 1.

Solid game, but I want some more content to be fully satisfied.

Both torchlight and torchlight 2 are true diablo games. And this game is even better than it's predecessor. The game is quite straightforward just jump in and play no need to study manual or play any tutorial, but even so it catch you. The graphics is not the best one, but on the other hand it doesn't grow old so fast as in other games and truthfully I liked it more than many better realistic graphics.

I tried out the original Torchlight, but didn't like it. This game was on sale and had many positive reviews, so I bought it. It is one of the best decisions I have made during this sale. This game is a lot of fun, and the $20 price point is just amazing. You cannot go wrong with it - it is a good game to have fun whenever you have time. And if you like getting a lot of loot, then you have come to the right game. There is online cooperative play too, which can be a ton of fun.

This game has low system requirements, so that is another plus. When you buy it from Gamersgate, you will get a key which you have to activate on Steam. The total download size is less than 2 GB. This game works fine in Steam's offline mode, so don't worry about that.

IMO, a must buy if you like this genre.

This is what Diablo 3 would have been like if Blizzard didnt change everything ...

i really enjoyed Diablo 2, but the third ... not so much ...

i was pretty disappointed over Diablo 3 but what that game lacks Torchlight 2 gains :)

i really love the Pet you have in the game, just like the first Torchlight, but now the pets can purchase Things for you when you send them to town.

if you like adventure and RPG games then this is a game for you :)

Torchlight II is a loot whoring game, and I couldn't love it enough. The artstyle, the loot, the blood splatters, everything is just how it should be.

I love the challenge of the bosses in this game, and that you actually have boss chests too open for even more loot afterwards is just beautiful. The artstyle is more cartoony than Diablo III, but it fits perfectly since the first game was like this too.

Personally I like this game better than Diablo III, even though I actually loved that game too, almost regret buying this game so late, even though I now bought it cheaper now on sale.

So buy it folks!^

A single player ARPG where you don't have to be online to play(I'm looking at you Diablo 3)! Guess which one I am playing more. If you enjoyed original Torchlight/Diablo 2 then you will enjoy this. World is better defined this time with maps rather than dungeon levels but story is still pretty thin. But seriously who plays this game for story. not yet jumped in to any multiplayer but imagine co-op will be a lot of fun with friends.

Torchlight II review

By Necrotron posted 28th November 2012

Torchlight II takes the best of Diablo III within and avoids the worst. No required online connection, no lag in single player, and it's beautiful. And while it doesn't contain the overall polish and graphical dazzle that Diablo III contains from being created by a massive company, Torchlight's graphical style is bursting with charm.

The biggest selling point of this game for me was the zoomable camera, the great graphical style, the addictive hack n slash arcade style gameplay, and the pets. Seriously, who doesn't find those pets adorable? And it's co-op! While Torchlight I got a solid 'pretty good' from me, Torchlight II stepped up the game enough to get a solid 'awesome'! If you were like me and put off by some of the restrictions that many complained about in Diablo III, this is probably the game you're looking for. Or get both, I know I did, and I'm loving it.

I think this TL 2 beats Diablo 3. A lot of people are discussing this issue right now on the internet, but for me there's not such a discussion. I own both, and there's no way diablo can beat this. I'm sorry Blizzard... but TL2 is perfect. Maybe I would add a couple classes (perhaps some update or dlc?) but the rest is just perfect!

Torchlight II review

By Eldredpe posted 20th November 2012

Pretty much improves on the first game in every way. It's a nice, cheap alternative to Diablo, and has a cool art style with classes that generally play a bit differently than you might expect. The skill trees are deep and well thought out, creating a plethora of possible builds for each character. I highly recommend getting some friends together and giving this game a go.

Torchlight II is better than the 1st

If you know anything about the first Torchlight, if you bought it and like it then there is no reason to not give this one a go. There are many improvements and for the price you just can't beat it, plenty of content and it's a fun game to play through.

Enjoy

I bought this game for myself and my friend since we both really like torchlight 1 and we cant be happier. We have only had the game for a day but have already spent nearly 5 hours playing doing nothing more than running around randomly killing and looting. The game has a decent story and great gameplay. Both my friend and I believe torchlight 2 to be better than the first and the multiplayer is great since we can now play together. If you liked the first game I think youll really like this one as well even if you dont want to play multiplayer I would still recommend you try this game.

I have to say I expected this game to be more or the same as the original, which I was wrong and correct at the same time. They managed to take everything that made the first game good and make it even better. With the addition of multiplayer it really sets this up to be a Classic game people will remember through history. Torchlight 2 manages to make Diablo 3 look like some indie game a couple kids made in their basement. I highly Recommend getting it. Its worth the 60 you payed for Diablo 3 but they only charge 20. Its quite a Deal.

Torchlight II review

By taylynne posted 11th October 2012

So much fun! I would pick this up over diablo 3 any day. I like the fact that we actually have something to do with stats, that we can choose which skill tree we want to go down. D3 looks gorgeous, don't get me wrong. I just feel like a lot of games these days are "dumbing" down, and d3 kind of shows it.

That being said, this is about Torchlight 2! A really fun game, if you enjoyed the first you'll definitely enjoy this one! They've added more fishing spots to the game, more pets, more classes, and each class can be of BOTH genders! There's multiplayer! What more does one need to say? Soon it'll be with steam workshop, which will only make the game better (hopefully at least!)

Pick this up if you're a fan of the first, or of any dungeon crawling games! it's well worth the 20$ price tag :)

By elbersame posted 9th October 2012

Torchlight 2 is fairly riddled with improvements - new classes, new skills, six-player online co-op, a much larger game world, pets that can come back from the shops carrying groceries - but the thing I really love about it is the atmosphere it conjures up. Runic's sequel has the rich, oily colours and wispy smoke trails of a battered pulp paperback cover, and its dungeons are filled with tentacles, coal-driven robots and skeletons who have-at-you with the very sword that once skewered them to a wall.

This is the sequel to the popular dungeon exploring and loot gathering game known as torchlight. It improves upon the first one including expanded classes such as the engineer, embermage, berserker and the outlander. It has expanded skill trees, even more loot then the first game and of course a bigger world overall. It is now four acts compared to the first game's one city with countless dungeons that you can span from maps. Great Sequel and a recommendation to fans of diablo 2 and other dungeon based rpgs.

Torchlight 2 is the natural evolution of the hack'n slash genre, it improves on almost everything without going over the top and spoiling what is already perfect.

I have had a few problems with the server viewer and joining friends games, but it is a minor problem that is easily fixed. It works great on old computers as well, which is a welcome change lately. Highly recommended, two thumbs up.

Torchlight 2 is thankfully, not just Torchlight 1.5. It is a complete sequel, that shows they were just getting started with the first game. Lots of more models, enemies, and weapons, make the sequel a must-have game for all PC gamers!

Familiar Torchlight hack'n'slash, with lots of tweaks and improvements, and a few minor negatives unrelated to gameplay.

+ New online multiplayer mode, but no annoying online requirements for the single player campagin, unlike a certain other recent release.

+ Four main classes instead of three.

+ Much more varied terrain, a lot of the action now takes place outdoors!

- Mandatory Steamworks protection, but relatively unobtrusive, offline mode works

+ You can get Steam achievements

- Higher system requirements, good luck running it on a Netbook

Remember the good old Torchlight 1 ?

Developers finally decided to make a sequel for of the first one and bring it on with Torchlight 2, the hype is over the limit with it, lots of people loved the first, even if it was a bit repetitive since the dungeon would be always deeper and enemies and zones were almost the same all the time, anyway Torchlight 2 is be supposed to be the Diablo 3 killer, yes that's tought, but not impossible, with some of the developers who worked at Blizzard who worked on old Diablo games will give it a nice touch, i'd say you pick it up since the price is not high compared to other games, plus if you pre-order you get a Torclight 1 game here on GamersGate, which is good, so what are you waiting for ?
