Tesla: The Weather Man review

By CCGR_press posted 14th April 2012

Without a doubt, the gameplay is what shines the most when it comes to Tesla: The Weather Man. The controls felt nice and smooth and I appreciate the way the levels were designed. The obstacles and puzzles that were presented weren't confusing and are designed well. Honestly, I never had any problems with crashes or glitches and I didn't have any control problems. The flow of the game is great, since the level of difficulty and action increases as you get closer to Edison.

The graphics aren't as splendid as everything else in the game. I believe Tesla should have been more detailed and the environments could have looked better as well. Still, I liked seeing the paintbrush art style and I appreciate the direction that was taken. When it comes to the animation, I was let down. Tesla's movement looks more robotic than the DC powered robots that Edison created.

The music is nice and catchy. Truly, I was humming many of the songs throughout my day. I feel like it really fit the mood and style of the game. I enjoyed the music so much that I would love to download the original soundtrack if available.

When it comes down to the morals in the game, I didn't really see any problems. The violence is very minimum and the worst you'll see is an explosion when Tesla dies. Also, the robots shoot bullets, but you won't see any blood or exploding body parts.

Overall, Tesla: The Weather Man surprised me greatly when I played it. I had a big smile on my face throughout the entire game and I enjoyed every single minute of it. Of course, there are a few things that bring the Game Score down but I suggest giving this game a try if you enjoy puzzle games.

Tesla: The Weather Man is really nice logic game. Main hero has got specific powers - he can control weather and gravitation. As a player you can cast a lighting to destroy mechanic opponents, use telekinesis to move wooden blocks, summon rain, solar beam and freez the water to make ice bridge. There is a lot of to do!

Graphic is simple, but I liked it. The same thing I can say about music. The story is quite funny. Game is not expensive so if you like this type of games, you have to buy it!

This game is actually pretty awesome. The plot and acting are obviously extremely absurd, but the basic game is a very clever physics puzzler. You get puzzles where, for example, to cross a gap, you have to fill a pit with water using rain, then use snow to freeze over the top of the water, then use telekinesis to lift the ice from the water and use it to bridge the gap.

The only problem with this game is that it's too short and doesn't have a level editor.

A good game, with brilliant gameplay and puzzle. Even though the beginning is just mindless plateforming it gets really good after few levels.

Fun to play and all, the only thing that I dislike is the graphic, I know it's hand painted according to the trailer but I still have the impression that it could be better.

Great game thought so no regrets

Tesla the Waetherman truly deserves the tile of a Indie game. It is orginal, has a whack humor and great intelligent game design. The voice acting is over the top and cheesy, not to be taken seriously at all but delivers some great depth to the characters. Even more so when the story is narrated by Mark Twain! The graphics are sort of minimal but definately a choice of style. The weather effects deliver the eye candy.

The first few levels of the game are an exposition, in which you collect the parts of the weather controlling devices. When this is assembled, the style of the rather simple Jump & Run adds elemtens of a logic puzzler and the real appeal of Tesla begins to shine. The game then confronts you with numerous tricky situation that have to be dealt with by your brain in many creative ways. And all the time the game controls are spot on, easy to learn but not so easy to master and the overall challenge feels a bit hard und unbalanced at times but rewarding in the end.

The price of $3 is a steal! This game is worth much more. If you like games like Great White Destroyer, Capsize, Braid, Wake or Saira, get this game.

I downloaded this game and did not know what expect. After intro I knew Tesla want to revenge - Edison destroyed his laboratory with army of primitive steam-punk style robots. So Tesla is going through the levels with special gaunlet - he may call thunders striking enemies, also rain, snow and use force of levitation. First ten levels are simply platformer, but since eleventh You need tu use your brain. Game changes from platformer to logic game and you will meet many traps, blocked ways, enemy terrain, etc. Tesla: The Weather man was for me big surprise and I may recommend it to eople who plays Braid and similar games.
