Two Worlds II Pirates of the Flying Fortress

Rating: 4.3 (187 votes cast)

Plots within plots and schemes within schemes devolve the crew of the Wandering Wrath into mistrust and outright mutiny, and all the while the lives of the islands' innocents hang perilously in the balance. The ship's notorious captain is a man so cruel and vile, he is said to have been born without a soul. Yet it is often true in the murky underbelly of the harsh seas, that things aren't always what they seem. Captain Ed Teal recruits the hero of the story for a personal errand, one such errand that's allegedly unconnected with treasure, but rather to reconnect him with his lost love; a secluded and hermitical maiden by the name of Maren who is said to inhabit the islands. Uninvited eyes are always watching where there is fame and fortune to be had. The Wandering Wrath's second and third in command, Cutter and Nicky Nails, have agenda's of their own. Trust is the rarest of all currencies, and none will be found by those unwilling to shed a little of his own… or a few buckets of blood.

Pirates of the Flying Fortress introduces more than a sufficient amount of new gameplay elements. In addition to an  archipelago filled with new vegetation in which players can traverse whether by foot, on horseback, sailing their own boat or even by swimming, there is also all-new races and bosses who lurk in the depths of the unexplored islands. Brilliantly flavored with stunning new cut-scenes, the 12+ hours of main quests await the player, permeated with twists and surprises at every decision. Dozens of new weapons including the crossbow, permanent potions and new armor accessories to increase the hero’s stats, effective horse armor, as well as fresh fighting techniques will provide the perfect means to get an all-new experience in the world of Antaloor. Thrilling in-game video sequences, created with new animation techniques and new weather effects like rain and storms; even seasoned "Two Worlds" veterans will get their money's worth! In "Pirates of the Flying Fortress" the archipelago world is debuted in a more realistic and compelling presentation than ever before, thanks to attacking plants, the realistic fauna and new atmospheric particle effects . The same applies to the story, which is pushed forward with cinematic animations, elaborately staged cut-scenes and amazingly scripted dialogs. And finally, the four additional multiplayer adventure maps grant players with cooperative long-term entertainment.

Two Worlds II Pirates of the Flying Fortress review

By sacrock posted 3rd April

Great expansion to add to the Two Worlds 2 world. Maintains a graphically rich game and extends the story for those who have enjoyed playing this title. Character customization is great, and the plot is well worth playing through.

Pretty Much Same As The Main Game

By Keyrock posted 31st January

Pirates of the Flying Fortress essentially offers "more of the same". There are a few new things such as weather effects, the ability to climb ladders, and a new item slot, but nothing that changes gameplay in any significant way. Essentially you get the same repetitive combat, some slightly more inspired loot (still fairly boring), and a mix of quests. There are some interesting quests and characters, but nothing really special. Hilariously, they got a different voice actor to voice the main character that sounds nothing like the original voice actor, yet the barks the character makes carry over from the original game, meaning that the character sounds completely different when in conversation than when he's just making off the cuff remarks. The voice acting ranges from somewhat decent to hilariously terrible and many character still suffer from the gesturing WAY too wildly when talking syndrome. On the positive side, the final boss fight is uninspired but still way better than the final boss fight in the main game, which was one of the worst boss fights I've ever had the misfortune of playing through.

It's a great expansion for the game. It add a new storyline, which i think is better than the original story. The dialogues are improved, the characters have more charisma, and it have some cool cutscenes that add more intensity to the story.

To me, tha expansion is a better game than the original.

a big expansion for a great game. i have always like two worlds, and this expansion added like 25% more content TO like in the second game. i also happen to like pirates but that isnt really why i dig this game/expansion. i like it because two worlds went their own direction and honestly it worked. unlike bethesda who was cowed into dumbing down their prized franchise, two worlds is a REAL action game, not an rpg pretending to be one. so this expansion adds important items and content to the game whereas bethesda will just add skinned weapons to theirs.

i honestly feel like this expansion is proof positive that two worlds has finally hit the mainstream.

NOTE: MILD SPOILER! Very good expansion. The only problem was I hit the wall when I had to play the music mini game prior to an end game boss fight. The music mini game should not determine whether you can finish the game or not. As it stands now I'm stuck and I don't know how long it will take for me to learn to play the music well enough to progress.

Up to this point, I enjoyed it.

Two Worlds II was an amazing game, full of great ideas and things that I would like to see in every RPG game. Beautiful graphics, and funny quests is the domain of the series, and it has all been improved, bugs were patched. There are also many more locations, boss fights and much more. I really recommend that title for all the RPG, fantasy and long games fans. It's really worth it.

As in my review of Two Worlds 2 this expansion was well worth the wait. Once again

improved graphics, engrossing storyline with enough side quests as well as the main

quests to keep you interested. I only wish there was a larger map to explore with a few extra

monsters and npc's. Apart from that, a fantastic addition to the Two Worlds franchise. Well

worth the purchase price once again.
