Warrior Kings Remastered review

Extremly fun game, that has lots to offer !

Its a 3d real-time strategy game. It has a single player campaign with a good story. The story itself is about Arthos, he is a baron's son. Until the day comes when the evil Imperials arrive to his home and declares his father a heretic...

The game has some good features which is unique and there is paths you can take with you kingdom. Pagan, Imperial or Renaissance, these three are chosen ingame when building their certain alignment buildings. They got all different units and are unique in their own way. Combat is good and offers formations and 500+ soldiers on the battlefield.

Only thing that I have had problem with is that in Mission 2, soldiers occassionally stop moving and disappears and then reappears on their way to their waypoint. Its quite annoying but I will have to see if it is in other missions.

Otherwise its a totally recommended game and its very interesting game itself !

Warrior Kings is a very good 3D real-time strategy game, The underlying design is excellent and it adds some interesting complexities to the standard structure of the typical real-time strategy game.

Warrior Kings takes place in a world torn between religion and technology. There are two primary factions, the imperials and the pagans, each with unique units and divine powers. Both factions can incorporate renaissance elements, such as siege engines and gunpowder, but by doing so, they sacrifice access to their most powerful units.

ven if you won't see it often in the campaign, the basic structure of the game is excellent. You must build a town, starting with peasants to harvest food and lumber. Carts transport the basic commodities to your civic center, and they provide an interesting strategic element, since they can be waylaid and stolen by the enemy. Certain buildings can be built only near your civic center, and the walls that surround this vital area expand automatically. Based on your faction, you can build huge siege engines or powerful religious units. There are numerous military units, ranging from standard spearman and archers to holy knights, soldiers, and enormous monsters that breathe fire.

One of the things that I immediately noticed and appreciated about Warrior Kings is that resource management relies on maintaining and protecting your supply lines. Losing resources by not protecting your supply lines can be fatal. Equally you can cripple your enemy the same way.

This is something I've wanted to see in strategy games for some time. As it turns out I've just been looking in the wrong places.

Units in Warrior Kings fit into five basic groups and all serve their own purpose with their own strengths and weaknesses. Ranged units might seem overpowered at first, but they're also reliant on being supplied with ammo so the tide can quickly turn against them if they're relied upon too much.

Graphically it's definitely showing its age. The remastered edition doesn't offer any noticeable visual enhancements.

All in all Warrior Kings is an interesting take on the Age of Empires style of RTS with a much more story driven single player campaign.
