Zombie Shooter 2 review

By oogla posted 11th March

Zombie Shooter 2 expands on and improves upon the original Zombie Shooter in almost every way. The game still keeps the move and shoot mechanic of the original, and the basic gameplay will be familiar to players of the first game. However the game now has a proper single player campaign with an actual storyline and NPCs to encounter.

The game also adds a new experience system. Experience points can be used to improve your skills such as strength, speed, accuracy and so on. There is a wider variety of weapons that can be purchased as well. They still fall in the same basic categories as the previous game, but have more options. Do you go for the shotgun that does massive damage but has low accuracy? Or purchase the shotgun that does less damage but has higher accuracy, etc.

You can purchase ammo, weapons and other supplies at various stations in the game. They are plentiful enough that ammo is generally not a problem. There are also the drones and medikits from the previous game and other goodies.

The campaign is fun. It's nice to have more of a goal than just kill everything in the level like the previous game had. There are also vehicle missions, which add a nice variety.

All in all an excellent game, particularly for fans of the series.

It's a nice isometric shooter with RPG elements. On one hand, the visual style is unique in a way that it makes me think of a B rated horror movie with the occasional television noise and that's a nice touch. On the other hand, the constant gray tinge with the occasional colouring can get a bit visually repetitive. There are blood splatters, body parts when you blow up zombies, fire, glowing and blinking lights, computer panels that add flavor to the monotone gray.

The game play itself is move with the arrow keys or WASD while directional control is where you move your mouse cursor which acts on where you shoot. When you level, you are awarded points where you can assign to different aspects of your character to increase health, constitution, speed, etc. Further customization means you can choose a preset avatar and gender.

Sound effects are a bit lacking. They're very generic and the zombies all mainly make a moaning sound all in one pitch. Music doesn't quite fit in my opinion. It's okay as action music, but for the theme, it felt meh.

I gave this game a rating of 6.5/10, but it is by no means not fun. It is fun for a quick short burst of gaming every now and then.

As a big fan of Alien Shooter 2 I was really looking forward to this game, but I can't help but feel let down. A lot of assets are recycled from AS2 with little new stuff added. Overall it just didnt have the same polish and quality as before, it's easy to tell that they didn't have as big a budget this time. I got this with blue coins so that took some of the sting out of it. If you're considering buying this I would strongly getting the Alien Shooter 2 pack instead.

Currently playing the game and wanted to share my thoughts so far. I am enjoying it, but got frustrated last night/early this morning while trying to reach the roadblock. I began having issues with the flying harpies. Those hag-bags are hard to hit, even with a shotgun. Plus they reminded me of Diablo. Then I came upon these chain gun toting buggers and I began to have my doubts. Then I come up on these big tanker blokes carrying rocket launchers, and I said WTF? Ok, maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I like my zombies served up the way momma used to make 'em: slow, dumb, brain-hungry, and in large quantities. I have no problem with some being faster and/or harder to kill than others, but when the undead start packing heat, I have to pause. Plus, I'm a creeper. I tend to ease my way through a level, preferring to use finesse rather then full-on brute force. So, up to this point it's not bad, but I am still in search of the holy grail of zombie survival games that will fully satisfy my post-apocalyptic, last man on earth, day-to-day survival against overwhelming odds tastes. Also tried Fort Zombie prior to this game, and it isn't bad.

A following to famous Alien Shooter 2, which puts you against thousands on Aliens. but this time, You fight Zombies. compared to AS2, game loads much faster, Stats(can be raised by levelling) is simpler, and graphic is more stylish. Not all zombies are dumb and slow, some of them are fast, or may have weapons. Definitely a BUY if you seek some kind of killing-spree, or feel like grinding zombies.

Surprising fun for the price! Graphics will not win any awards but they get the job done. Minor path finding issues, but my character only got hopelessly stuck once. Fairly good rpg leveling system. Nice selection of weapons and equipment.

Difficulty is hugely affected by the gear and weapons your character has so try a different setup if you keep dieing. Exploring the map for hidden areas and goodies can be a huge help. Shoot anything suspicious, many crates hold goodies and even some walls and doors can be blown open to access secret rooms.
