Alchemia Extended Version review
Lovely puzzle game, Alchemia is so cute and smart. Some people do not like that you can only interact with meaningful object, I found this option very useful. Yes, most people will tell you that the game is very short (it is) but for $3 you will still get a lot of value. The different levels are so creative and engaging it would be worthy to have just a few of them. Alchemia is worthy every penny.
Alchemia – Extended Version review
Cute but short. Not a great story, its short, doesn't have very good or creative puzzles, the one with the stars and music lock is unnecessarily hard. On the bright side, its dirt cheap, it has great visuals and great music. So you could kill an hour or two playing this. It's not good, but it's not bad either.
Alchemia – Extended Version review
Very enjoyable game with gameplay similar to Machinarium or - less - Tiny Bang Story. You guiding small guy called Noses through strange world, full of machines and creatures. Danger - YOU MAY DIE!!! Puzzles are rather easy but because of nice audiovisual You will spend few hours with this game and it will not be wasted time.
Alchemia – Extended Version review
An enjoyable game albeit a much too short one. The visuals are nicely executed and comparable to Samorost. While the game creates a believable world with its own atmosphere, well supported by a soothing soundtrack, I found the story and dialogues a bit lacking. The game's riddles stand out, being immensely enjoyable, if not too difficult.
The fact that the player can only interact with objects that are relevant to the specific problem at hand takes too much of a challenge from the game and further shortens the already brief experience.
I bought the game on sale for 2.80€ and it was well worth it. However, the regular price of 6.99€ is too much for such a short game.
Alchemia – Extended Version review
If you like games like Samorost/ Samorost2 and Machinarium this game is for you!
This is also a Flash-based game, since it was originally a Browser game, too. There are surreal, beuatiful artwork, characters and landscape with an overall theme and tone that fits in very well among with these other games. And the small fella you are controlling is cute and loveable, too.
But the similarities end here. This is not a copycat game. Alchemia tells a great story on it´s own unique way. Dialogues are realized with speech bubbles that fit the theme perfect. The background music is very enjoyable and a good compensation for the missing voice over.
The Puzzle are varied between standard and some with nice twists to the concept. Feeling mostly fresh and (mostly) never too absurd. Most of the time it´s your own way of complicated thinking hindering your progress.
Now for the bad part. This game is SHORT. 2 hours maybe three if you take a time, that´s it. And this is the EXTENDED version!
So I definitely URGE you to get this gem, while it is on sale. At $3.50 is a steal.
