It's a vile world out there. Get too complacent and all sorts of weirdos start coming out of the woodwork. Good thing Sam & Max are here to hose down the sleaze and keep some kind of peace. Violently, if possible. Who are these irreverent crime fighters? Sam's a six-foot tall canine shamus with a love of justice. Max is a hyperkinetic rabbity-thing with a taste for mayhem. Together, they're a team of freelance police officers, on a mission to take down a bizarre mind-control conspiracy. And they're taking you along for the ride.

REVIEWS

Sam & Max is a great buy for anyone who loves point & click adventure games or are just interested in experiencing them for the first time. I agree completely with everything dayglowill says in his review. The only point & click fans I can see not liking this game are those who prefer the far more difficult ones or who want a very intricate story.

I'd add that I rather enjoyed playing this game with my wife so it's not just for single players and was definitely evenings well spent. My only non genre specific complaints (head scratching moments, grrr) are that though the game is great overall the episodes do vary somewhat in quality, and it only supports 800x600 and 1024x768 resolutions which is disappointing given when it was released.

Sam & Max Save the World review

Sam and Max Save the World is a quality product. The scripts are funny and the voice acting convincing. As to the visuals, although this game is unlikely to test any modern pc's graphics, the graphic design is spot on, with a cartoon style that suits the game's subject matter perfectly. The original jazz score also fits in well with the theme of the game as a whole.

Gameplay is classic point and click adventuring with a few head scratching moments but nothing too difficult, though both lateral thinking and persistence are required. Each of the 6 episodes is a self contained adventure lasting 3 to 5 hours or so, perfect as an evenings entertainment.

On the downside, as with most adventure games, replay value is low. Quite a bit of each episode is spent in the same locations albeit with changes in detail, which some may find repetitive, though I think this does tie in with the whole tv series vibe rather well. And of course you need to have a Sam and Max sense of humour to fully enjoy the game.

All in all I would say that if you like this style of adventure game, especially if you don't like your puzzles too hard, then this game collection is well worth buying.
